Books by Igarashi, S.
Suguru Igarashi (1924-2008) was a well-known amateur entomologist and collector, accomplished business man and novelist. He is renowned for the discovery of the immature stages of a very rare papilionid, Teinopalpus imperialis, in Darjeeling, India, and for writing a series of books on life histories of Asian butterflies and the early stages of papilionidae. Igarashi was chairman of the editorial committee of the Lepidopterological Society of Japan, and was the first president and president emeritus of the Butterfly Society of Japan. His search for the rare and elusive Teinopalpus imperialis was fictionalised in The Yellow Emperor, a novel by leading 20th century Japanese woman writer, Yoshiko Shibaki (1914-1991).
