First edition. Scarce variant with plain end-papers. This was the first volume in the series to be published with patterned endpapers, but a small batch of the first edition (of which this is one) were bound with plain endpapers: apparently the binder ran out of patterned endpapers and as an expedient used plain stock. The plain paper variant is much rarer.
