Text French. Éleuthère Élie Nicolas Mascart (1837-1908) was a French physicist, with a research interest in optics, electricity, magnetism, and meteorology. In this important work Mascart presents the results of experiments in physiological optics, determinations of the indices of refraction and dispersive powers of numerous gases, studies on metallic reflection and colour etc.
