Description:
The first book on the magical creations of postwar Italian glass virtuoso Toni Zuccheri.
Toni Zuccheri (1936-2008) was an artist, architect, designer and sculptor. He collaborated with some of the biggest names in postwar Italian art (Gio Ponti, Lucio Fontana and Gaetano Pesce, among others) and worked for some of the most prestigious glass brands in Italy (Venini, VeArt and Barovier), developing new materials and forms in a glassmaking career of nearly half a century.
A decade after his death, this volume presents an exhaustive overview of Zuccheri's career, looking at his complex and fruitful encounters with designers and brands and his extensive independent production of unique works modeled after animals. Featuring illustrations of Zuccheri's prototypes and one-off pieces plus unpublished sketches, studies and drawings, archival material and letters, Toni Zuccheri reveals the complex sensibility of a designer who took an empirical approach to sculpting.
