Collector's Edition: Full leather in slipcase; Limited to 100 numbered copies, signed by the authors.
This book presents full-colour, near full size plates of the 72 exquisite watercolour paintings, Butterflies and Plants, made by the great 18th century English naturalist Henry Seymer and his son. The paintings, made from specimens amassed world-wide remained unpublished for over 200 years. The paintings were purchased by Harold Hughes in 1992 from the Seymer family, and recently reviewed and examined from a detailed scientifically-based entomological perspective by Dick Vane-Wright (formerly Keeper of Entomology, the Natural History Museum, London)
