Description:

This volume covers a number of difficult genera such as Cyclophora, Scopula and Idaea. The latter genus, with more than 100 species occuring in Europe, is particularly problematic to identify, but the many specimens illustrated on the colour plates, make identification of the species much easierier now. The majority of the spedies of Idaea are illustrated 1.5 times natural size. The remaining Sterrhinae are illutrated in natural size. Difficult species have their differential characters clearly indicated on additional black and white photos. Three new species and three new subspecies are described. Maps showing European distribution are provided. Also with line drawings of male and female genitalia of all species and a systematic catalogue of the European species and neighbouring regions such as North Africa, Macaronesia, Turkey, and the Middle East.
