Description:
Unusual publication containing 134 real specimens of butterflies (132) and moths (2), mounted on both sides of 10 stiff card leaves, each side protected by a glassine sheet. Includes butterflies from families Papilionidae (24), Pieridae (24), Danaidae (11), Satyridae (12), Amathusiidae (2), Nymphalidae (34). Lybytheidae (1), Lycaenidae (14), Hesperiidae (10), and 2 moths including the magnificent Atlas moth, Attacus atlas, all collected in Taiwan (Formosa). The wings are all original, the bodies have been replaced with painted card cut-outs. Letterpress consists of two leaves - title page and list of specimens.
Condition
Orig. velvet covered binder (270x245mm), gilt title to front board. A few specimens are slightly imperfect, but most are in very good condition.
