The authors have expanded their knowledge of butterflies of their native Florida to cover all the islands in the adjacent Atlantic and the Caribbean (although with the notable exception of Trinidad and Tobago).
The book is a collation of past records rather than an up to date survey but as i know of no other books covering this region, it is a valuable first step.
The graphics are illustrations rather than photos but are adequate for the job.
No attempt is made to give common English names which is probably just as well as they will no doubt proliferate from island to island.
The text tends to be long winded which is a shame as the book could have been condensed into a more portable form. Even so, it is, for the present, a unique and valuable reference work.
