Originally planned in 2 volumes, however an additional third volume (not present here) was necessitated by the 'greatly increased amount of information received since the plan of this work has been more generally known' - the third volume contains the Anatidae. Hand coloured lithographs, Pallas's Sandgrouse (by J. Wolf) and Great Bustard (by J. Smit).

2 vols, 8vo, orig. cloth, slightly worn, a few splashes/stains to top and fore-edge of Vol. I. Several hinges cracked and slightly slack. Foxing to half-titles, titles and several plates, heavier to the frontis to Vol. I. Vg set.
