Description:
With field notes by the ornithologist George K. Cherrie. Bull. American Mus. Nat. Hist., Vol. LX.
The Roosevelt-Rondon Scientific Expedition was a survey expedition (1913-14) that aimed to follow the path of the Rio da Dúvida ('River of Doubt') in the Amazon basin. The expedition was led jointly by Theodore Roosevelt, the former President of the United States, and the Brazilian explorer Colonel Cândido Rondon. Sponsored in part by the American Museum of Natural History, the team collected many new zoological specimens. This work includes bird specimens collected from Matto Grosso, made by Herbert H. Smith in the years 1882-1886 and in the Roosevelt Collection made by George K. Cherrie in 1913 and 1916. Figures include photographs taken during the expedition 1913-14.
