Description:
First edition. Scarce. 'This volume contains a detailed record of a summer holiday spent at Tenby. Nearly every day's occupation is set down, just as it occurred; tide-pool explorations, cavern searchings, microscopic examinations, scenery huntings, road-side pryings, - here they all are; a faithful narrative of how the Author was engaged for about six weeks at that pleasant little watering place.' - Preface. Written in epistolary style, the letters being addressed to 'E.', an 'esteemed relative in London', probably Gosse's brother-in-law, Edmund Elford Bowes (1808-1877). All the plates except three depict microscopic forms and were drawn by the author.
Adverts at rear dated Jan. 1856.
