Prof. Sir Henry A. Miers (1858-1942) was Waynflete Professor of Mineralogy, Oxford University, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manchester and Professor of Crystallography. Prof. N. Story-Maskelyne (1823-1911) (full name Mervyn Herbert Nevil Story-Maskelyne) was Professor of Mineralogy, 1856-95, University of Oxford, and Keeper of Minerals at the British Museum, 1857-1880.
