Condition
8vo, later cloth. Lacks pages 21-24. Withdrawn from an institutional library with ink stamp to title. Inscribed from the author to Richard Owen (1804-1892), British palaeontologist and comparative anatomist, and critic of Charles Darwin's theory of evoultion. Also with a few manuscript annotations/corrections by the author (e.g. against text 'Examples of the Lesser Flamingo … are wanted for the Asiatic Society's Museum', he has written, 'I have now Calcutta specimens').
