Withdrawn from an institutional library with ink stamps. Bound in with Vol. I are several contemporary mansuscript letters to Edgar A. Smith (1847-1916), British malacologist and assistant keeper of Zoology in the British Museum between 1867 and 1913. One letter from American malacologist, Henry Augustus Pilsbry (1862-1957) of the Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia, dated May 25th 1894, is in response to an editorial protest on p. 11 of Vol. I, concerning right of priority of description of a species, described and illustrated there by Smith. A type specimen had been left with Pilsbry by Smith on a visit to the United States while this paper was in press and Pilsbury had included the species in one of his publications before Smith's description had been published! He is not named, but referred to as, 'a well-known conchologist'.
