First edition. Scarce. Includes an Appendix on 'the meaning of many common terms used by oyster-fishermen'. James Herbert Orton (1884-1953) was Professor of Zoology at the University of Liverpool, Director of Port Erin Marine Laboratory and Chief Naturalist at the Plymouth Laboratory of the Marine Biological Association. The work is divided into two sections; The Natural History of the European (Flat) Osyster and Modern Problems Relating to Oyster Culture.

Condition

Sm. 8vo, orig. cloth. Withdrawn from an institutional library with a few ink stamps. Good.
