8vo, orig. green, blind-stamped cloth, rebacked with part of original spine laid down. Foxing to folding map; old water stain to corner of one plate. Vg. Signature of the original owner, Edward Newman, to title page. Newman (1801-1876) was an English entomologist, botanist, author of a number of books on natural history, publisher and printer, and editor of the periodicals The Zoologist and The Entomologist. Also with armorial bookplate of Harry Kerby Pott, and later attractive bookplate (designed by W. Livett) of C. & M. Horsfall.
