The 50 leatherbound copies also included, 'an original drawing depicting a subject of the individual subscriber's choice (reasonable requests please!).' - from flyer (copy enclosed). This copy has an unsigned pencil and watercolour sketch (200x250mm) by the artist, of a pair of gannets, tipped in at front endpaper.
John Busby was born in Yorkshire. He studied at Leeds and Edinburgh Colleges of Art and taught drawing and painting at Edinburgh College of Art from 1956-1988. His paintings include wildlife subject matter as well as large landscape and abstract paintings. He has illustrated many ornithological books. This book contains over 80 drawings reproduced actual size to an exceptionally high standard; the artist's handwritten comments accompany the drawings.
