Scarce. Translated by David Coales. Text English. The Melbourne International Exhibition was held from 1 October to 30 April 1881. This was the second international exhibition to be held in Australia. The French Minister of Scarce. Public Works 'ordered a collection of designs, models and works to be made and sent to Melbourne', to promote and share knowledge of the engineering and architectural output of the influential ‘Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées’. The introduction explains that to support the French contribution to the exhibition ..'this volume is illustrated by numerous engravings, which will be found to facilitate a perfect comprehension of the designs, models, etc.' Illustrations includes attractive engravings of French designed bridges, ports, lighthouses, viaducts etc.
Condition
8vo, later red cloth, orig. slightly worn wrappers retained. Withdrawn from an institutional library with a few neat ink stamps.
