'Being a collection of informal and unpublished writings by the Late President of the British Ornithologists' Union with contributed papers upon falconry and otter hunting, his favourite sports'. Illustrated by Archibald Thorburn. Thomas Littleton Powys, 4th Baron Lilford (1833-1896) was one of the founders of the British Ornithologists' Union in 1858 and its president from 1867 until his death. He wrote several works on birds, including Notes on the Birds of Northamptonshire and Neighbourhood (1895) and Coloured Figures of the Birds of the British Islands (1885-1897), which was completed by Osbert Salvin after Lilford's death.
Condition
4to (257x196mm), orig. blue cloth, gt, rubbed, boards lightly marked, teg. Occasional light foxing. Good.
