Fith Thousand. Dorothy Tennant (1855-1926) was an English painter, this work was published in the same year that she married the explorer Henry Morton Stanley. The work includes 12 pages of introduction about the poor street children of Lonson which as a review in the Spectator (11th October 1890) states 'In these she tells us how she came to take up this subject of her pencil, how she set about getting models, and what experiences she met with. And she makes some suggestions for those who would follow her example.'
Condition
8vo, orig. cloth-backed, illustrated boards, soiled. Inscription to endpaper. Good.
