Description:
A comprehensive compilation, review, history, and information covering the five genera referred to as the Large Sulphurs, members of the subfamily Coliadinae. The majority of species in this group reside in Central and South America.
The group is known for its variation in color and markings, with most being sexually and seasonally dimorphic. Therefore, every attempt has been made to illustrate the full range of sexual and seasonal variations. As many as eight specimens may be shown for a single species or subspecies. The dorsal and ventral sides are shown as well as at least one example of each sex.
The hundreds of brilliant photos are the result of a stacking technique using 20 to 70 photos, depending on the specimen. As a result, every area of the specimen is sharp and in complete focus.
The description for each entry includes scientific and common names, commentary, geographical distribution, seasonal distribution, habitat, larval hostplants (when known), and means of identification.
