This Library edition includes an additional signature (16 pages) of sketches and paintings created in the preparation of this book. Following the success of the folio limited edition Ireland's Wild Orchids (2004), the artist (Susan Sex) and author (Brendan Sayers) decided to produce this field guide, to 'bring some of that pleasure to a wider audience, while also providing a special edition for the book collector'. The field guide, designed in the manner of the notebooks and sketchpads used by artists and writers, is illustrated by Susan's paintings as well as photographs by various orchideers, and complemented by text notes and new accessible identification keys to the species, by Brendan. The book makes the mysteries of orchid identification easier whilst being a beautiful book in its own right.

8vo, qtr leather, grey cloth boards, title panel inset to front cover, patterned endpapers, all edges speckled red; in matching slipcase. Original flyer and printed bookmark for this book enclosed. Also, with a greetings card produced by Susan Sex with her illustration of a Bird's-Nest Orchid, inscribed 'Jan 2009. With compliments, S, B & V' [Susan Sex, Brendan Sayers & Vincent Sex]. Fine.
