Complete map folio with 5 large-format colour geological maps (some folding) and the accompanying 42 uncut pages of text with figures, printed on 5 leaves. A review of this work, published in Science Vol. 140, stated ‘that ‘the first new geologic map of New York State in three-score years, is not only a splendid scientific achievement in mapping, but the accompanying text provides a brief, comprehensive, geologic history of the area’…and amusingly notes in the space age era ‘All that is needed is a seven armed Martian to handle the folio in high wind, on a loose talus slope. Of course, Earth Men can take separate, folded sheets into the field’.
Condition
Large format (865x940mm), wiro binding. Withdrawn from an institutional library with neat ink stamps to front wrapper and lower blank margins of maps. Good.
