A superb publication. The quality of Lewington's illustrations will make this much more practically useful than, for example, Porter's photographic Guide (2010, Apollo Books). Carter & Hargreaves caterpillars of Butterflies & Moths in Britain and Europe (1986, collins) has poorer quality illustrations but useful coverage linked to foodplants. The concise text of this new book is useful, along with various introductory sections, checklist of species, scientific names of plants, index of scientific names and english names.
