First edition, undated (British Library states 1929 for 4to edition - there was also a small 8vo edition). Plates mounted on grey card. Illustrated by Barbara Briggs, F.Z.S. Eleanor E. Helme (1887-1967) was an accomplished golfer, member of the English 1911-1920 womens international golf teams, and member of the association of Golf Writers. She also wrote a series of natural history books for younger readers, including the 'Feathered Friends' series.
