Description:
Mites of the family Phytoseiidae are of immense economic importance as they are efficient and effective predators of phytophagous mites and can contribute a lot in keeping their population in check. In view of this importance this group has received a global attention. In India too a reasonably good contribution has been made but unfortunately most of those are scattered. Uptil now no consolidated account is available about the total picture of Indian phytoseiidae and nor is there available the keys for identification of various taxa. This book not only provides full descriptions illustrations synonymies distributions etc. of all the species known from India but also includes key for identification of the various taxonomic categories. Besides a general discussion has been included on habitat food habit biology general morphology having bearing on taxonomy of the group economic importance methods for collection preservation mounting rearing classification phylogeny etc. This book provides a handy tool to the taxonomists of this important group and hence will prove to be an indispensable reference material to the students and researchers of acarology in India and abroad
