Text French. Recueil de l'Institut Botanique Léo Errera T. Suppl. 7 bis. A phytogeographical study of Belgium. Jean Massart (1865-1925) was Professor at the University of Brussels. Today he is best known for this highly regarded work, which unusually included steroscopic photographs of plant habitats.
In 1894/95 he collected botanical specimens in Java and Sumatra. From 1902 to 1906 he was curator of the Jardin botanique de l'État in Brussels. Maasart led an expedition to Brazil, 1922-23, with the aim of collecting specimens for the Brussels herbarium.
