Description:
Text French. Epitola l.s. refers to a set of seven genera of Epitolini revised by the author in 1999. Since then, the number of specimens has almost tripled in the collections of ABRI and R. Ducarme, and this work presents the progress that the study of this new material has made possible. The study is based on male genitalia, as well as on DNA barcode analysis (some 670 sequences were obtained). It shows that Epitola l.s. is not a monophyletic grouping, but confirms the monophyly of the seven genera that it gathers. The combination of the two approaches also revealed the existence of several new taxa, and 26 new species are described (including 17 Cephetola), as well as 14 new subspecies. Epitola l.s. now totals 175 species (and 34 subspecies), almost 80% of the Epitolini species.
