Description:
In 1929 the British Government appointed a sub-committee on locust control in London to report on the means of mass destruction of the desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria in Africa. In 1931 the Committee extended its interest to other African locusts. This extensive collection of almost 2,000 unpublished British Government duplicated typescript reports details the development and management of this large-scale pest control operation. The reports concern the control of Locusts mostly in Kenya, Rhodesia and the Sahara. They include extensive information on the early development of aerial spraying techniques as a method of control. Meetings were attended by Francis Hemming; Sir Guy A.K. Marshall; Prof. Poulton and B.P. Uvarov, etc.
