Description:
First edition. Scarce. A history of ornithological specimens, collected primarily from Britain, by Lieut.-Col. Charles Theodore Echalaz (1844-1913). The collection was gifted to the Urban District Council of Waterloo (Liverpool), who opened the Waterloo Museum, specially to house the tazidermy collection. The collection was struck by German bombs, targeted by theives, and nearly forgotten in a basement bellow the town hall when the collection fell out of favour. This 1909 book serves as a guide to the collection and the birds contained within, and is an invaluable guide to an important taxidermy collection.
