Smith (1929-2017), leading British dipterist at the Natural History Museum, London, and editor of the Entomologist’s Monthly Magazine. Loosely inserted are two typed letters concerning proposed exchange of this book, signed and dated 1990, from the Czech dipterist, Rudolf Rozkosny (a contributor to this volume) to K.G.V. Smith, one letter with the latter's draft reply added in pencil.
