Taxonomically bang up-to-date. Superb text. Extremely informative. Full of exquisite images of live butterflies, all photographed in the wild. Essential reading for anyone who wants to make sense of the dazzling but bewildering diversity of butterfly species on our fragile planet.

A great and very attractive treatment of the subject. Beautifully presented and balanced between science, appeal and entertainment. The images as wonderful, and the book comes at an amazing price.

I've just finished reading this wonderful book and think it a real tour
de force. Apart from the outstanding photographs, the text is eminently
readable as so much of it obviously stems from the author's personal observation.
Great stuff!

After a lifetime as a naturalist this is the first butterfly book I've found that is as invaluable to professionals as it is to lay people, and is packed with so much easily understandable information. The photographs are simply stunning, and the printing is excellent. A book to treasure.
