Offprints from Entomologist's Record, Vol. 69-71 and 74-75. Ralph Leonard Coe (1906-1968), was a dipterist at the British Museum (Natural History), where he worked for 39 years. This forms an account of the author's travels through Jugoslavia on two solo collecting trips in 1955 and 1958, collecting specimens of Diptera for the British Museum (Natural History). 8vo, near cont. half-morocco, raised bands and contrasting red title piece to spine. Interleaved copy. 3-page paper, 'In a Serbian Forest' (Ent. Rec. 69, 1957), by the same author is tipped in at front. B/w photograph of the author pasted to front endpaper. From the library of K.G.V. Smith (1929-2017), leading British dipterist at the Natural History Museum, London, and editor of the Entomologist’s Monthly Magazine, with his pencil notes on the provenance of this book to front pastedown: 'This volume was specially bound at Ralph Coe’s expense for presentation to the Director of BM(NH), Dr Morrison-Scott. On Scott’s retirement it was put out as a duplicate and passed on to K.G.V. Smith as Coe’s associate. The tipped in ‘In a Serbian Forest’ announces the two fuller parts and serves as a precursor.’
