This book is an excellent attempt at an enormous task, covering 1,700 species in a field guide costing less than thirty quid. There are no descriptions but the photos are accompanied by size of insect and either maps (Mexico) or indication of general area of occurrence. About half the photos are of live butterflies (presumably the most common) the rest, mounted specimens which are indicated as such. This is not a scientific study but a useful guide throughout Central America and as such, very good value.
