The pollen host of Panurgus meridionalis (Hymenoptera: Andrenidae)
By: IAN CROSS
Page: 1–6
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Recent study of the Spanish endemic bee species Panurgus meridionalis Patiny, Ortiz-Sánchez
& Michez, 2005 has revealed the true pollen hosts to be members of the Asteraceae tribe Inuleae –
species not included among previously recorded flower visits. Photographs are included, which
are believed to be the first images of the living insect.
First records of Cacopsylla fulguralis (Kuwayama) and Macrohomotoma gladiata Kuwayama in Gibraltar (Hemiptera: Psylloidea)
By: C. MALUMPHY & R. GUILLEM
Page: 7–10
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Cacopsylla fulguralis (Kuwayama) and Macrohomotoma gladiata Kuwayama (Hemiptera:
Psylloidea), are reported for the first time from Gibraltar: C. fulguralis in North District on
Elaeagnus × ebbingei, 22.i.2019; and M. gladiatain Sandpits Area on Ficus microcarpa,
20.i.2019. Both species are native to Asia and have been introduced and spread widely in Europe
and the Mediterranean. The host range, geographical distribution and potential impact in Gibraltar
of both species are discussed. Macrohomotoma gladiata is also recorded from Greece and
Morocco for the first time.
A review of the species of Anthrenus Geoffroy, 1762, (Coleoptera: Dermestidae) on the British list
By: GRAHAM J. HOLLOWAY
Page: 11–18
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
A component of the British list of Dermestidae (Anthrenus spp.) is checked for support from
the scientific literature. No evidence is found for four of the species of Anthrenus on the British
list existing as self-sustaining populations in Britain. It is argued that the number of species of
Anthrenus on the British list should be reduced from nine to five. The importance of regularly
reviewing national lists to confirm rigorous scientific support for all species included is discussed.
On the subgeneric placement of Megalopta atra (Hymenoptera: Halictidae)
By: MICHAEL S. ENGEL
Page: 19–24
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
A new subgenus is described for Megalopta atra Engel (Halictinae: Augochlorini) from
Panama and Costa Rica, as Megaloptosyne subgen. n. Metasomal sternum IV of the male shares
features with the related genus Xenochlora Engel et al., distinguishing the group from other
Megalopta Smith along with various other modifications of sterna III and IV and the genitalia. A
key is provided to the subgenera of Megalopta.
Sphegigaster hexomyzae Vikberg, 1983, (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea, Pteromalidae) new to the British Isles with notes on the parasitoids of gall-forming Agromyzidae (Diptera) in the genus Hexomyza
By: H. CHARLES J. GODFRAY & BARRY P. WARRINGTON
Page: 25–28
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Sphegigaster hexomyzae Vikberg (Pteromalidae) is added to the British list from material
reared from galls of Hexomyza simplicoides Hendel (Agromyzidae) on Salix cinerea in Yorkshire.
Literature records of parasitoids from gall-forming Hexomyza are reviewed.

Insect pest species of Eucalyptus in Gibraltar
By: C. MALUMPHY, R. GUILLEM, C. PEREZ & K. BENSUSAN
Page: 51–57
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Four invasive eucalypt-feeding insects, native to Australia, are recorded from Gibraltar for the
first time: the gall-forming wasps Ophelimus maskelli (Ashmead) and Leptocybe invasa Fisher &
La Salle (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), the lerp-forming psyllid Glycaspis brimblecombei Moore
(Hemiptera: Aphalaridae), and the bronze bug Thaumastocoris peregrinus Carpintero & Dellapé
(Hemiptera: Thaumastocoridae), whilst the status of two Eucalyptus longhorned borers,
Phoracantha recurva Newman and P. semipunctata (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), is
summarised. The former five species have been found on the red-gum tree Eucalyptus
camaldulensis Dehnh., growing in the urban environment in Gibraltar. The potential impact of
these invasive species is discussed.

A gyne of Stenamma westwoodii Westwood, 1839, (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) from Worcestershire, England, with clarification of regional Stenamma records
By: PAUL F. WHITEHEAD
Page: 61–65
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Since the revival of Stenamma debile (Förster, 1850) from synonymy with Stenamma
westwoodii Westwood, 1839 by DuBois (1993) the latter species appears to be a genuinely rare
native British insect. The appearance of a S. westwoodii gyne in south Worcestershire, England
on 23.x.2019 warrants some discussion of the genus.
