Pammene luedersiana (Sorhagen, 1885) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae, Olethreutinae): a larval description and note on the biology
By: R. J. HECKFORD & S. D. BEAVAN
Page: 157–165
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Hitherto, the larva of Pammene luedersiana (Sorhagen, 1885) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae,
Olethreutinae) appears to be undescribed. We provide accounts of the larva and what appears
to be its characteristic larval spinning on Myrica gale L., as well as a review of the historical
records of the species in Scotland, the only country in Great Britain from which it is known.

Bucculatrix lerchianella sp. nov. (Lepidoptera: Bucculatricidae) from the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria
By: Zdenko Tokár
Page: 167–173
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
A new species of Bucculatricidae, Bucculatrix lerchianella sp. nov., is described from the
Black Sea coast of north-eastern Bulgaria. It is related to B. artemisiella Herrich-Schäffer, 1855,
and several other closely related species but differs from them in the structures of the genitalia
and dnA-barcoding sequences. The adult and genitalia of both sexes are figured and
photographs are provided of the type locality.

Using pheromone traps for the detection and monitoring of the seasonal flight of the vine bud moth Theresimima ampellophaga (Bayle-Barelle, 1808) (Lepidoptera: Zygaenidae, Procridinae) in Serbia
By: ANA NAHIRNIĆ, SONJA PETROVIĆ, ZORAN KRIVOŠEJ, PREDRAG JAKŠIĆ & TEODORA B. TOSHOVA
Page: 175–181
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
the vine bud moth, Theresimima ampellophaga (Bayle-Barelle, 1808), is known as a vineyard
pest in parts of Europe, Asia Minor, Georgia, Syria, Lebanon and Israel. the literature data on
the occurrence of this species in Serbia are old and sparse. So far, it has been recorded in Srem
district (town of Ruma in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire), Fruška Gora Mt. and in the
town of Niš. Delta sticky traps baited with the synthetic sex pheromone of Th. ampellophaga,
(2R)-butyl (7Z)-tetradecenoate, were used for the first time for detection and seasonal
monitoring of this species at three sites in Serbia in 2013, viz. Đunis (municipality Kruševac,
central Serbia), Malča village (municipality Niš, eastern Serbia) and Jelašnička Klisura Gorge
(eastern Serbia), and in 2014 at Malča village and Jarinje (municipality Leposavić, central
Serbia). In 2013 the pest was found in vineyards in two of the investigated sites, viz. Malča and
Jelašnička Klisura Gorge. Catches of Th. ampellophaga males were recorded from the middle of
june to the beginning of july. No catches of males of the vine bud moth were recorded at either
site in 2014.
Recent British records of Margarinotus (Stenister) obscurus (Kugelann, 1792) (Coleoptera: Histeridae), including its entrapment in human hair
By: PAUL F. WHITEHEAD
Page: 182–186
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Recent and new British records of the histerid beetle Margarinotus obscurus (Kugelann,
1792) are presented. Aspects of its synecology and historical ecology are discussed.
Butterflies (Lepidoptera: Papilionoidea & Hesperioidea) of the Croatian islands: new surveys of Vir, Murter, Čiovo and Šolta
By: T. KOREN, K. VUKOTIĆ & R. VEROVNIK
Page: 187–197
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
The study of the butterfly fauna of the Croatian islands Vir, Murter, Čiovo and Šolta is
presented. Fieldwork was carried out from 2012 to 2014, and each island was visited several
times, in different vegetation seasons.
Altogether 56 species were recorded during the survey, 36 on Vir, 42 on Murter, 30 on
Čiovo and 37 on Šolta. Most species records are new for these islands. Although we have not
added any new species for the Croatian islands in general, records of rare species such as
Zerynthia polyxena, Iolana iolas, Cupido minimus, Scolitantides orion, Euphydryas aurinia, Satyrus
ferula, Gegenes pumilio and Thymelicus lineola present important extensions of their known
ranges on the islands and in Dalmatia. None of the surveyed islands has particularly high
butterfly diversity when compared to neighbouring or similar-sized islands. Lack of biotope
diversity and high anthropogenic pressure are the main reason for the observed low diversity.
Future surveys, in particularly of Čiovo and Šolta, should provide some additional species
records.

Melitaea ornata Christoph, 1893 (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae) discovered in Montenegro, with a list of the butterflies recorded in May 2013
By: PETER RUSSELL
Page: 199–204
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
A short visit to a small area in the coastal hills of Montenegro was made in May 2013, where
48 species of butterflies were recorded; of these seven are considered to be vulnerable,
endangered or threatened. Among the species recorded was a Melitaea phoebe-like butterfly that
was later shown from antennal shape, wing morphology and male genitalia to be M. ornata, the
first record of this species for Montenegro. Because of the apparent lack of recent records of
Papilionoidea from Montenegro, a species list is provided.

The Mendelian genetics of the two larval morphs of Zygaena (Mesembrynus) corsica Boisduval, [1828] (Lepidoptera: Zygaenidae, Zygaeninae)
By: W. G. TREMEWAN
Page: 207–215
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
The Mendelian genetics of the two larval morphs of Zygaena (Mesembrynus) corsica
Boisduval, [1828], are described. The larvae of the populations from Sardinia have a crimson
subspiracular band, whereas this band is various shades of grey in those from the island of
Corsica. It has been shown that the crimson coloration of the subspiracular band in the
Sardinian populations is a dominant character, in contrast to the recessive whitish grey to grey
band in the Corsican populations.
Lymantrichneumon disparis (Poda, 1761) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae), a genus and species new to Britain
By: GAVIN R. BROAD & ANTONY M. DAVIS
Page: 216–218
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Based on a single specimen collected in Broadwater Forest, East Sussex, Lymantrichneumon
disparis (Poda, 1761) is reliably recorded for the first time in Britain. As a large and distinctive
icheumonid parasitoid of Lymantria pupae, this probably represents a recent colonisation of
southern England.
