Synopsis:
The identity of the genus Porus Westwood, 1839, is discussed, and the results of the author’s
examination of material standing under the name Porus ochraceus in the oxford university
museum of natural History and the natural History museum, london is presented. the name
Porus ochropus Westwood is rehabilitated as having precedence over P. ochraceus (misnomer).
a neotype is designated for Porus ochropus. Porus laminarum Pace and P. borneensis Pace are
transferred to the genus Zyras. Porus laminarum Pace is synonymised with Zyras praedabunda
Kistner and a new specific name is proposed for Zyras borneensis (Pace). the aedoeagus of Porus
is described for the first time. Photographs of Porus ochropus, of an undescribed species of Porus
and Zyras praedabunda, and of the original illustrations of Porus ochropus, P. bissorensis and P.
bissauensis are provided.

Synopsis:
Two new species and one new subgenus of flower flies are described and illustrated from
papua new Guinea: Ceriana (Oculovillosa, subgen. n., type-species, ismayi sp. n.) and Ceriana
wyatti sp. n. also a new subgenus, Polybiomyia (Pseudopolybiomyia subgen. n., type-species,
Cerioides ablepta Riek) is described to include the australian and afrotropical species related to
the neotropical subgenus Polybiomyia. Ceriathrix Hull (= Monoceromyia) and Polistoceria Hull
(= Sphiximorpha) are here considered synonyms. an overview of the classification of these flies
is presented with a key to the included groups.

The genus Empidideicus Becker is recorded for the first time from the south of Iran,
comprising a new species, Empidideicus citridomus sp. n. The new species is closely related to E.
unicus Gharali & Evenhuis and E. formosus Hakimian, Talebi, & Gharali. A revised key to all
species known from Iran and northern neighbouring countries in Central Asia is provided.

Six new species of Platygastridae from India: Amblyaspis khasiana, A. kurinjii, Gastrotrypes
