By: C.A. TAUBER
Page: 81-88
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Lectotypes are designated and modern generic combinations are confirmed for two of the four chrysopid types in the Hope Entomological Collections, Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Hemerobius brevicollis Rambur, 1842, is Chrysoperla brevicollis (Rambur), and Hemerobius conformis Rambur, 1842, is Ceraeochrysa conformis (Rambur). The taxonomic confusion surrounding Chrysoperla brevicollis is discussed, and Ceraeochrysa conformis is redescribed.
A new species of the ripidiine genus Neopauroripidius from Kenya (Coleoptera: Ripiphoridae)
By: ZACHARY H. FALIN, ROBERT S. COPELAND & MICHAEL S. ENGEL
Page: 89-100
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
A new species of the recently characterized ripidiine genus Neopauroripidius Falin & Engel (Ripidiinae: Ripidiini), is described and figured from a male captured in the Muhaka Forest, Coast Province, Kenya. Neopauroripidius muhakaensis sp. n., is distinguished from its congeners, particularly N. howdeni Falin & Engel from South Africa. A tentative key to adult males of the genus is provided. The discovery of the new species in one of Kenya’s small, isolated, coastal forests underscores the importance of conserving these fragile habitats, rich in endemic species.
