On the occurrence of Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus) damon ([Denis & Schiffermüller]) in Iran (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae)
By: VAZRICK NAZARI, FRANCESCO FANTONI, ANGELO SACCHI, PAYAM ZEHZAD & ALIREZA NADERI
Page: 153–161
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
We investigated the accuracy of a century-old record of Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus) damon ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) from Persia, and the genetic affiliation of a recently discovered population of this species in NW Iran with respect to other populations of this species across its range. We found that the old record was a misidentification of other related species, and the new Iranian population to be most closely related to those in Armenia and Turkey, attributable to subspecies Polyommatus (Agrodiaetus) damon kotshubeji Sovinsky, 1915.

Stilpon subnubilus Chvála new to France, with notes on its morphology (Diptera: Hybotidae)
By: E. de BREE & P.H. HOEKSTRA
Page: 169–176
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Stilpon subnubilus Chvála, 1988, is here reported as new for the fauna of France. Wing polymorphy is known to occur in Stilpon graminum (Fallén, 1815). Here we describe wing-polymorphy for both Stilpon nubilus Collin, 1926, and S. subnubilus Chvála, 1988. This changes the known diagnostic features of both species considerably. The distinguishing features given in the original description of S. subnubilus (concerning the size and coloration of the wing) are based on a micropterous S. nubilus and a macropterous S. subnubilus. Also, the coloration of the hind metatarsus appears to be the same (slightly brown tinged) for both species. We present wing measurements, figures, and a key to illustrate our findings – raising a hypothesis for further study. In addition, we examine the known distribution and habitat of S. subnubilus.

Puliciphora Dahl (Diptera: Phoridae) in Wales
By: MARK D. WELCH, PETER J. CHANDLER & KEITH N.A. ALEXANDER
Page: 179–182
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
A male of the scuttle fly genus Puliciphora Dahl was found in a sample from a flight interception trap at Dinefwr Estate NNR, Llandeilo, Wales. This is only the fourth Puliciphora record for Britain and the first outside the Oxford area. Dispersal of members of this genus is limited by the flightless females, which are carried by males a few metres to oviposition sites. It seems likely, therefore, that the Welsh occurrence involved transportation by human activity from another source.
Two new species of Chalcidoidea (Hymenoptera) reared from galls of Dasineura ericaescopariae (Dufour) (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) in France
By: R.R. ASKEW
Page: 183–190
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Two species of Chalcidoidea (Hymenoptera), a Torymus (Torymidae) and an Aprostocetus (Eulophidae), are described. Both were reared from galls of Dasineura ericaescopariae (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) collected from Erica scoparia in southwest France.
A new species of Lonchaeidae (Diptera) from Peru
By: IAIN MACGOWAN & MICHAEL VON TSCHIRNHAUS
Page: 191–194
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
A new species of Lonchaeidae in the genus Lonchaea Fallén is described from Peru. It is placed within the existing key to Peruvian Lonchaeidae and its relationship with other species in the family is discussed.
The drumming signals of the British endemic stonefly Brachyptera putata (Newman) (Plecoptera: Taeniopterygidae)
By: CRAIG R. MACADAM
Page: 195–200
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
The current study details the male drumming signals of Brachyptera putata (Newman) and compares it with that of other European species in the genus.

Topsy-turvy world – southern hemisphere thrips at home in the north (Insecta: Thysanoptera)
By: MANFRED R. ULITZKA*, ANDY MARQUIS & DEREK BINNS
Page: 204–212
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
In this work we present two southern hemisphere thrips – Apterothrips apteris (Daniel) and Merothrips brunneus Ward – which were found in Guernsey and in Hastings. Both are well established and present in permanent populations. A key to the identification of the two Merothrips species known from Europe is provided.

Page: 215–218
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
During a pilot survey, the feeding patterns of Aspidomorpha miliaris (Fabricius), and A. sanctaecrucis (Fabricius) beetles were observed, compared and interpreted. Questions were raised for further study.
Unexpected gnats: an Australian keroplatid and a Japanese mycetophilid found in Corsica (Diptera: Keroplatidae and Mycetophilidae)
By: PETER J. CHANDLER
Page: 219–225
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Two species are newly recorded for France (Corsica) and Europe: Lutarpya fulva (Skuse, 1888) (Keroplatidae), the only known species of a genus endemic to Australia, and Neoempheria brevilineata Okada, 1939 (Mycetophilidae), described from Japan and subsequently recorded only in Georgia and Mordovia. Their characters are discussed and illustrated but, as only one specimen of each species was found, the status of any population is unknown as are their precise biological requirements.
