The first New World Falsiformicidae (Hymenoptera): a new genus in Upper Cretaceous amber from New Jersey
By: MICHAEL S. ENGEL
Page: 157–168
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
A further species of the Cretaceous wasp family Falsiformicidae (Chrysidoidea) is described
and figured from a male preserved in Upper Cretaceous (Turonian) amber from New Jersey. This
represents the first occurrence of the lineage in the Western Hemisphere as well as the most recent
taxon, with all others dating from the Cenomanian or earlier deposits. Neophenax orcus gen. and
sp. n. is compared with Falsiformica cretacea Rasnitsyn from Upper Cenomanian Siberian
(Agapa) amber, which is currently the formally described falsiformicid with which the species
shares most similarities.
New Arabian cranefly records from Abu Dhabi (Diptera: Limoniidae)
By: E. GEOFFREY HANCOCK
Page: 169–173
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Limoniid species identified from a Malaise trap survey in Abu Dhabi (2015–2017) expand
distribution records for the family. Females of Styringomyia ebejeri Hancock, 1997, are figured.
Some information about larval stages can be linked with adult presence in the traps.

The Oriental chestnut gall-wasp Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatsu, 1951, (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) and its introduced and native parasitoids in Madeira Island, Portugal, with notes on some other parasitic Hymenoptera reared from gall samples
By: ANTÓNIO M. FRANQUINHO AGUIAR, DÉLIA CRAVO, LUÍS M.F. DANTAS & TERESA M. VIEIRA DA LUZ
Page: 175–190
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
The accidental introduction to Madeira of the invasive chestnut gall wasp (CGW),
Dryocosmus kuriphilus, is reviewed, as is the subsequent biological control programme
implemented by the Regional authorities. This control programme was based on the importation
of a non-native parasitoid, Torymus sinensis. Results from five years of parasitoid release are
presented, including a list of native parasitoid species associated with D. kuriphilus galls in
Madeira. Five species of Hymenoptera are listed as new records for Madeira: Dryocosmus
kuriphilus Yasumatsu, 1951; Torymus sinensis Kamijo, 1982; Bootanomyia dorsalis (Fabricius,
1798); Colpoclypeus florus (Walker, 1839), and Ufens foersteri (Kryger, 1918).
New records of the cleptobiotic stingless bee Lestrimelitta chacoana from Paraguay and northwestern Argentina (Hymenoptera: Apidae)
By: MICHAEL S. ENGEL
Page: 191–197
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
New records of the Chaco Region cleptobiotic stingless bee Lestrimelitta (Lestrimelitta)
chacoana Roig-Alsina are provided from Paraguay and northwestern Argentina at the western and
eastern extremes of the greater Chaco, the latter at the transition from the humid Chaco to the
Atlantic Coastal Forest. Notes on character variation are provided along with images of the
species, a key to species of Lestrimelitta Friese s. str., and a key to subgenera of Lestrimelitta.
The following new subgenera are established: Apiraptor subgen. n., Hyrolestris subgen. n.
Two new records of Microterys Thomson, 1876 (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) from England and Wales
By: PAUL F. WHITEHEAD
Page: 198–200
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Two female examples of Microterys Thomson, 1876, wasp are recorded: Microterys seyon
Guerrieri, 1996, from a traditional orchard on the Gwent Levels, Monmouthshire, and Microterys
polylaus (Walker, 1846) from a suburban garden at Evesham, Worcestershire. This is the first
record of the M. polylaus female.
Pediobius rotundatus (Fonscolombe, 1832) (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Eulophidae) new to Britain with first reports of native parasitoids reared from Plagiotrochus quercusilicis (Fabricius, 1798) (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) in England
By: M.T. JENNINGS & J. BOWDREY
Page: 201–206
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Pediobius rotundatus (Fonscolombe) (Eulophidae) is reported for the first time from Britain,
reared from sexual generation galls of Plagiotrochus quercusilicis (Fabricius) (Cynipidae) on
Quercus ilex L., collected in the counties of Suffolk and Kent, England. Additional first British
host records of three species of Pteromalidae and one of Torymidae, from galls of P. quercusilicis,
are also presented.

By: JENS-HERMANN STUKE
Page: 207–212
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Coenia caucasica Krivosheina, 2001, is recorded from Germany and Finland. A key for the

Distribution, morphology and phenology of Anthrenus nipponensis Kalik & Ohbayashi (Coleoptera: Dermestidae)
By: GRAHAM J. HOLLOWAY & CHRISTOPHER W. FOSTER
Page: 215–224
Type: Paper
Synopsis:
Little is known about the eastern Palaearctic species Anthrenus nipponensis, a member of the
Palaearctic A. pimpinellae species complex. In the current study, a morphometric examination of
specimens held in the Natural History Museum, London, is carried out. A. nipponensis is larger
and narrower than most other species belonging to the complex. The unusual shape of the
antennal club is illustrated and discussed. The male genitalia are small but of comparable size to
several other Anthrenus species relative to body length. The accuracy of published drawings of A.
nipponensis aedeagi is discussed. The literature is searched for records of A. nipponensis to
produce a geographical and phenological distribution. The species is distributed across Japan, the
Korean peninsula, north-eastern corner of China, and the south-eastern tip of Russia. The adult
flight season peaks during the second half of May. Details on the life history are included.
SHORT NOTE: Recent rearing records of Mesopolobus incultus (Walker, 1834) and Mesopolobus amyntor (Walker, 1845) (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Pteromalidae) from Kent, England, U.K.
